Circuit

Designed in 1947 by Checco Costa's initiative ESTI (Ente Turismo e Sport Imolese), scene of many memorable events that have marked the history of motor racing, the circuit (4933m), located at 40 km from Bologna and not far from the Republic of San Marino has been known since 1970 under the name "Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola." He was inaugurated on April 25, 1953 with the Grand Prix Coni and, the following year, it also hosted the "Coppa d'Oro".

In the '70s, the circuit boosted its reputation, mainly thanks to the advent of endurance races including the 1000 km and the 200 Miglia cars motorcyclist.

In 1979, the circuit became permanent. One year later, it welcomed the first Grand Prix Formula 1. From 1981 to 2006, it lended his prestigious track for the Grand Prix of San Marino.

The circuit will then undergo a radical plan to modernize, according to the concept of Hermann Tylk, world-renowned German architect, and the restructuration ended in September 2007.

Now known as one of the most secure in the world, it nevertheless keep intact all the technical ingredients that made its worldwide reputation.
